East Harlem Rezoning Commitment Tracker
In 2017, the NYC City Council adopted the East Harlem Neighborhood Study, one of the Department of City Planning’s neighborhood planning studies. The rezoning was a comprehensive, community-focused effort that prioritized the creation of new mixed-income housing and the preservation of existing affordable units, as well as the identification of complementary initiatives to address key community wellness, infrastructure, economic development, and workforce issues.
As part of the rezoning, the City committed to identifying and addressing a wide range of strategies for East Harlem’s growth and vitality. To track these commitments, I helped create a interactive web tool outlining the type of improvement, a summary of the type of and location of the work to be done, the agency responsible for work, and its progress towards completion.
